HP 3700 error message 41.3

I get the error message 41.3; unexpected format in tray 2 although the paper and tray settings are ok.How to locate the faulty part that brings out this error? Any help will be apriciated.

If the problem is in tray 1, then the PS1 paper tray sensor is defective, which would require replacement of the entire pick-up/feed assembly.
If the problem is in tray 2, then check the PS2 paper tray sensor, which is next to tray 2 pickup roller. Maybe some paper dust is blocking the sensor. Use a wee bit of compressed air to blow it out.
